Demo vs full game: what is missing
The demo has the tutorial and part of the story, but no ending, no hard-mode campaign, no Endless mode and none of the 18 full-game achievements. Saves do not carry over.

The demo is a separate Steam app with its own store page, and it has been patched far more often than the full game. If you are deciding whether to buy, the demo is the honest test. If you already own the full game, here is what the demo does not have.
Side by side
| Content | Demo | Full game |

| Endless mode | No | Yes, with weapon upgrades |
| Achievements | Demo set | All 18 |
| Controller support | Yes, added September 2026 | Yes |
| Rebinding and crosshair size | Yes, added September 2026 | Yes |
What changed in the demo, and why it matters
The demo has been the game's public test bed. Three official updates are worth knowing:
- 20 November 2025 — major overhaul: tutorial, checkpoints, weapon balance, AI rework, the spit mechanic, menus and music.
- 17 September 2026 — rebinding, crosshair size, more languages, reload cancelling, John Woo-style executions, new enemies (kamikaze and the iron-mask type), sound and effects work, controller support.
- 23 September 2026 — v0.98c5: a no-head-bob option, a checkpoint loading screen, a controller fix in the death menu, and a fix for enemies detecting players through walls in the Parking level.
If you played the demo before November 2025, you played a different game. The spit mechanic — the heal half of the charge meter — did not exist in the early build.
Does progress carry over?
No. The demo is a separate app with its own achievements, and nothing in the store data suggests a save import. Treat the demo as a free trial, not a head start.
Should you play the demo first?
Yes, if any of these are uncertain: whether the VHS filter bothers your eyes, whether the lack of upgrades feels freeing or thin, and whether the corridor shooting holds up for a full run. Those are the three things reviews cannot settle for you.
What the demo will not tell you
The demo cannot show you the ending, hard mode, or Endless mode with its weapon upgrades — and those are where the rarest achievements live. If you are buying for the achievement list, the demo is a sample of the first fifth of it.
